Late, suspiciously late, the rain courses in the dark evening. Steadily but in haste I wander to find the prince in search of a girl like me. Beautiful dark natural hair, falls just beneath my busom. Deep gray eyes that look beyond the soul. Fair skin that glows like white satin flowers. My family, careful and sweet, but they do not understand that my soul yearns for love. Deep and well into the abyss of the sea, it is, immersed in desire to be understood. Feeble and in covet I knock on the thick castle door. My heart, it races, anxious to see what lies beyond.
At last the door widens and light fights off the dusk in which I arose from. A strong and tall man stands before me. I tell him why I stand before him in hopes that he will invite me in. He does. We nervously, but intently exchange words beside the fire. A strange feeling awakens inside me. A sudden and deep liking i take for this noble and careful man . We talk well into the night. As his words feed my empty and needy soul, I start to fall faint from the long journey and insist on my departure. He grabs a firm hold of my hand telling me to stay. Flattered, I thank him and wait for my room to be ready.
The servants, as well as the queen rush to make sure the room is comfortable for me, their guest. I show gratitude for their courtesy for they know not how weary my heart longs to be with the prince. I say good night and vanish into my room. My, the bed is tall and stacked, mattress upon mattress. With heavy eyes I climb to the top where my destination to rest lies. Minutes pass by and I can not think straight nor do i make sense; my thoughts do not complete themselves . I seem to be drifting in and out of wishful thoughts, dreams and reality. As i dream upon a perfect wedding , I imagine black roses covered in thorns and dark gowns smooth like silk. Tossing and turning my dreams start to fade, as the garden of flowers turn to needles and knives.
Startled I awake, burning hot but clammy and cold to the touch. Enraged I have had enough of this sleepless night. I quietly and rapidly inspect each mattress to find the trouble. Ah! there it is, the damnable component stitched neatly on the surface of the mattress. It is but a pea. As i go to touch it I am pricked by a sharp, dull and abandoned needle. A tear of blood rushes to the palm of my hand. Maddened i take the needle and devise a plan in which I am ashamed of. It is a blur what i did to end the lives of those in the castle, but i can say that i had to be swift in my motions. Every body that thrived in the castle now lays lifeless, each in between a mattress of their own. The mattresses with bodies inside them are once again stacked high. Eyes wide open I sit at the foot of the mattresses and grin and mysterious grin. I can say my quick and vast obsession for the prince drove me to such monstrosities and inhumane acts. At last I am no longer driven mad. I must escape into the woods before a townsfolk discovers that a fair princess like me has committed such a dark and regretful deed.
